Iconography
The ascetic form — fair-complexioned, walking barefoot, with no mount. She holds a japa-mala in her right hand and a kamandalu (water pot) in her left.
Significance
Parvati as the tapasvini — performing severe penance to win Shiva as her husband. She represents discipline, vows kept, and the inward turn of devotion and study.
