Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the Dharmagya mobile application (“Dharmagya”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the app. By installing or using Dharmagya, you agree to the practices described below.

Dharmagya is a Hindu Panchang (almanac) app that provides daily tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, muhurta, festival reminders, and related Vedic astronomical information.

We collect only what is needed for the app to function:

• Location data. With your permission, we access your device’s approximate or precise location so panchang timings (sunrise, sunset, tithi end time, muhurtas, etc.) are accurate for where you are. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time from your device settings. If denied, you can still use the app by entering a city manually.
• Push notification token. If you enable reminders (festivals, muhurta alerts, daily panchang), we use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to deliver notifications. FCM assigns a device token; we use it solely to send you the notifications you opted into.
• Diagnostics and usage data. We collect anonymous crash reports and basic usage metrics (screens viewed, feature interactions, app version, device model, OS version, language, country) to fix bugs and improve the app. This data is not linked to your identity.
• Advertising identifiers. The app displays ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device’s advertising ID, IP address, and basic device information to serve and measure ads. See “Advertising” below.
• On-device preferences. Your chosen language, location, ayanamsa, theme, and other settings are stored locally on your device. They are not transmitted to us.

We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, microphone input, SMS, or call logs. The app has no user accounts or sign-in.

• To compute and display panchang data for your location.
• To send festival, muhurta, and panchang reminders you opt into.
• To diagnose crashes and improve app stability and features.
• To show and measure advertisements that help keep the app free.

We do not sell your personal information.

Dharmagya uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob is a Google service and its data handling is governed by Google’s privacy policy. AdMob and its partners may use advertising identifiers and related data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads and measure performance.

On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, from Settings › Privacy › Ads (exact path varies by device).

The app relies on the following third-party services:

• Google AdMob — advertising.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notifications (only if you enable reminders).
• Crash reporting / analytics provider — anonymous diagnostics and usage.
• Reverse-geocoding service — to convert coordinates into a readable city name when you use device location.

Each of these providers processes limited data under their own privacy policies. We do not share data with them beyond what is required to provide the feature.

We retain diagnostic and advertising data only as long as needed for the purposes described above. Location is used in real time to compute panchang and is not stored on our servers. Preferences you set remain on your device until you clear app data or uninstall the app.

Dharmagya is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact us and we will delete it.

• Revoke location permission at any time in Android Settings.
• Disable notifications at any time in Android Settings.
• Reset or opt out of personalized advertising IDs on your device.
• Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data.
• Contact us to request deletion of any diagnostic data associated with your device.

Depending on your region (EU/UK, California, India DPDP, etc.), you may have additional rights such as access, correction, deletion, or objection. Reach out using the contact details below and we will respond within a reasonable period.

We use industry-standard measures to protect data transmitted between the app and third-party services (e.g., HTTPS/TLS). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” at the top. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
